After women teachers and students, Congress workers tonsure heads


Agencies, Bhopal In the wake of women teachers and students tonsuring their heads over their demands, political temperatures soared today in Madhya Pradesh as several Congress workers followed suit. “Congress workers had their heads tonsured to express solidarity to teachers as well as specially-abled people who are staging an agitation in the state capital,” State Congress General Secretary PC Sharma told. Earlier, Congress workers submitted a memorandum in the name of Governor in support of demands of teachers and specially-abled people. “The regime is behaving against the spirit of Constitution by not consenting to petty demands of teachers. Tonsuring of heads by women is against Hindu culture. Nonetheless, the dispensation is apathetic towards their demands,” Mr Sharma alleged. Yesterday, a few women teachers tonsured their heads demanding their inclusion in the Education Department. Later, describing the incident as unfortunate, several students of the Sanskrit Sansthan also shaved their heads while asserting that students cannot tolerate insult to their teachers. Senior Communist Party of India- Marxist leader Badal Saroj took exception to the district administration charging Rs 1.5 lakh from teachers’ organisations for the place to stage to protest. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Rajneesh Agrawal said that the dispensation has taken the demands of teachers into consideration. Appropriate steps would be taken in accordance to rules.
