Around 100 killed, 400 injured in thunderstorm: MHA


New Delhi, Around 100 people were killed and more than 400 injured in severe duststorms followed by thunder showers that hit parts of Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Rajasthan, leaving a trail of destruction in both states, a Home Ministry official said here on Thursday. The high intensity duststorm in UP left 64 people killed and 47 injured. Agra district was worst affected while the squall had severe impact in Bijnor, Bareilly, Saharanpur, Pilibhit and Firozabad. In Rajasthan, 33 deaths were reported and around 100 injured with Dholpur getting the brunt in the state. 'The Union Home Ministry has sought reports from the states that had to suffer due to this natural calamity,' the official said. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern for the loss of life and destruction of properties and directed the officials to coordinate with the affected states.
