Assembly polls mandate show people's anger with PM’s policies, says Rahul: Pledges new vision

New Delhi, Describing the Congress victories in Hindi heartland states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh as a reflection of people’s anger with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that people think that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself was corrupt. Addressing a press conference here, the Congress president, while thanking the people of the three states said that the party would endeavour to provide a "new vision" to the youth and the farmers in these states. "When Mr Modi was elected to power, he gave a vision to the people of the country. Though people waited for five years for him to realize that vision, but he has failed". He said Prime Minister was elected on three platforms—employment, fight against corruption and farmers. "It was in people's mind that PM will fight against corruption. Now people think that PM Modi himself is corrupt.’’ Describing the results as a ‘victory of the congress workers, small traders and farmers’, the Congress president said that now it was the responsibility of the Congress to provide a new vision to the farmers and youth. ‘’This is a victory of Congress workers, small traders, farmers. This is a big responsibility for Congress party and we will work on this. We are going to provide these states a vision. We are going to provide these states a government that they can be proud of.’’ Expressing a feeling of gratitude for the outgoing BJP Chief Ministers of these states for the work that they had done. "I want to tell the chief ministers of the states that we are grateful for the work done by them," Mr Gandhi said. He also described the Congress win as a reflection of the people's mood for change.
