Augusta Westland case : SC asks Rajiv Saxena for guarantor

6/25/2019

Agencies, New Delhi Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the accused-turned-approver in the Augusta Westland case Rajiv Saxena to apprise it by Wednesday as to who would stand surety for him, if he would be allowed to travel abroad on health grounds. Saxena had pleaded to the Apex Court to allow him to travel abroad citing ill health. The Apex Court asked Saxena's lawyer who would stand guarantee if he would be allowed to travel abroad. The Enforcement Directorate opposed his plea of travelling abroad. The Apex Court wanted from the ED to ascertain whether he will come back to India or not. The ED submitted to the Apex Court that Saxena does not have any roots in the country, and he might flee and not return to India, if allowed to travel abroad. The Supreme court fixed the matter for further hearing on Wednesday. Rajiv Saxena is an accused in the multi crore rupee Augusta Westland case.  He was later made approver by the investigating agency in the matter.
