Best Sailing Club award presented to MP Sailing Academy

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Lamba presented ‘Best Sailing Club’ award to Madhya Pradesh Sailing Academy.Harshita got ‘Best Women Sailor of the Year’ and Ram Milan received ‘Best of Upcoming Sailor’ award. In a programme held in Delhi, Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy and President of Yachting Association of India Admiral Lamba presented ‘Best Sailing Club’ award to Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Academy for its excellent works. Likewise, for their superb performances Sailing Academy players Harishita Tomar bagged ‘Best Women Sailor of the Year’ and Ram Milan Yadav received ‘Best of Upcoming Sailor’ award. The Director, Sports and Youth Welfare Mr Upendra Jain received the ‘Best Sailing Club’ award. On this occasion, Chief Coach of Sailing Mr G.L. Yadav was also present. It is the result of the efforts of Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Hon. Yashodhara Raje Scindia to promote the sailing sport that academy players are performing excellently and winning medals at the international level to make Madhya Pradesh proud. Through the efforts of Sports Minister only, country’s first sailing school was established at Upper Lake in Bhopal in the year 2006. These 3 awards in the field of sailing sport are another addition to the achievements of Water Sports Academy. Best Women Sailor Award to Harshita Hashita Tomar has been awarded the Best Women Sailor award for her outstanding performance at the international level. Harshita Kumari, who is from Hoshangabad, is a promising player of the sailing academy. She has won 3 gold and 1 bronze medal in international competitions. She bagged a gold medal in the laser 4.7 event of Sailing Championship-2017 held in Dubai. She also won gold medal in optimist class boat of India International Regatta Optimistic Class Boat held in Chennai in 2015. Likewise, she won gold medal in India International Regatta’s laser 4.7 girl’s category held in Chennai in 2016. In national competitions, she won six gold medals, 4 silver medals and one bronze medal respectively. Best Upcoming Sailor Award to Ram Milan Yadav Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Academy’s sailor Ram Milan Yadav has been awarded ‘Best Upcoming Sailor’ Award. He had won a bronze medal in international competition Multi-Sailing Championship’s Laser 4.7 open category held in Hyderabad in 2016. He has won total eight medals, including five gold and two silvers and a bronze. High-grade sports facilities In the Water Sports Academy, operated by Sports and Youth Welfare Department, players are trained on international-level boats. Olympic level 29er and 49er boats with optimist radial have been provided to the players. Also, players are sent on exposure tour to countries like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Germany etc., so that their sporting skills get refined and they would perform at their best in the international competitions to win more medals.
