BJP decides not to change the leadership in Tripura now

Agartala, The BJP Tripura state committee, in its first meeting headed by National General Secretary Ram Madhav, last night decided to continue with Chief Minister Biplab Deb at the helm in the state. The party decided not to change the leadership until its organisation at the grass root level was strengthened. Besides, keeping Chief Minister Biplab Deb at the helm of the affairs, the meeting resolved to retain General Secretary (Organisation) of Assam Fanindra Nath Sharma as chief of the organisational functioning of Tripura till 2019 general election. The party leaders said the meeting had a discussion on the organisational issues, including further enhancement of the party base at booth level, which had almost stopped after assembly election. There was detailed discussion on better coordination between the party and government and time bound implementation of BJP Vision Document for the state. “The central leadership has given clear cut instructions to the government for chalking out the plan for the next five years, setting up target for every six months. The central government is committed to forward complete assistance for making Tripura the best governed state in the country,” the leader said. He also pointed out that the ministers were given guidelines for discharging their duties. The state in-charge Sunil Deodhar could not attend the crucial meeting because of his pre-occupation in party activities in New Delhi, and a report of the discussion was sent to him. “So far there have been no discussion about changing the leadership of the party in the state, rather everyone wanted to keep the present set up intact till the next Lok Sabha election,” he said adding that priority was given to the Pristha Pramukh (page observer). According to sources, Ram Madhav said the performance of Prishtha Pramukhs will be reviewed. If necessary, the party was ready to remove a few Prishtha Pramukhs on the basis of their performance and bring in new faces. Besides, the party also decided to place five Karyakartas and use five registered motorcycles at every booth. All the workers assigned to their respective positions would identify the local problems and send report through proper party channels part sources said.According to Ram Madhav, the importance of Tripura had risen at national level after BJP’s massive victory in the state, although only two Lok Sabha seats were there. “Two seats from Tripura in favour of BJP are confirmed. In fact, the two seats would be won with population wise record margin in the entire country,” assured Chief Minister Biplab Deb in the meeting and added that a clean mechanism was prepared for selecting the beneficiaries of various government schemes. In a message to the booth committees, he stressed on involving the old BJP and Jana Sangha activists, and taking suggestions from them for various activities. The central leaders have, however, directed all the ministers and MLAs to spend more time with their respective constituencies without hampering the government functioning.
