Lucknow, Reiterating her earlier stand vis-a-vis no tie-up with the Congress party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Tuesday clarified that BSP will not forge any alliance with the Congress party to fight elections in any state. Speaking at a meeting of BSP chiefs of various states and senior office-bearers to assess the poll preparations and decide the names of the candidates, the BSP supremo said under no circumstances will her party make any electoral settlement or alliance with the Congress party. Lauding the SP-BSP alliance, she said it was working in good faith and was being perceived as a better alliance in all three states. Addressing the party workers, she said apart from achieving social transformation, the alliance with the SP was also capable of defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the elections in the country's interests. Ms Mayawati further said all the people associated with the party needed to work at the grassroots level and make every BSP worker-oriented to steer the the wheel of caravan of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar ideologies and policies towards its destination. She further directed everyone not to take any step for short-term gains which is not in the interest of the party. Notably, the BSP honcho had announced her alliance with the SP on January 12 in Lucknow and had also leveled several allegations against the Congress Party during that time while also ruling out the possibility of including Congress in the ambit of the alliance.
