Cong getting solace in opportunistic alliance in K'taka: Prasad

New Delhi, Hitting out at the newly formed Congress-JD(S) government in Karnataka, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday said the Congress is getting solace in “opportunistic alliance”. When asked about his views on the Congress observing ‘betrayal day’ on May 26, Mr Prasad said, the Congress has “developed arrogance” after the government formation in alliance with JD(S) in Karnataka. The Congress has decided to observe May 26 as 'Vishwaghat Diwas (betrayal day)' across the country to highlight the misgovernance of the NDA government on all fronts. Asked about frequent tweets by former Finance Minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram on fuel prices, Mr Prasad said, “I don’t want to react on former Finance Minister’s tweets. Since his party is out of power, he is tweeting actively and writing articles.” Earlier in a series of tweets, Mr Chidambaram said, “It is possible to cut upto Rs 25 per litre, but the government will not. They will cheat the people by cutting price by Rs 1 or 2 per litre of petrol Bonanza to central government is Rs 25 on every litre of petrol. This money rightfully belongs to the average consumer. Central government saves Rs 15 on every litre of petrol due to fall in crude oil prices. Central government puts additional tax of Rs 10 on every litre of petrol”.
