Since Gujarat Assembly general elections the Congress is showing improved performance in the subsequent bye-elections. In Gujarat the home state of Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and where Bhartiya Janata Party in a power since last five terms, this time Congress increased its number of seats. The BJP won the majority but with reduced numbers and loss of prestige.
Now in Rajasthan bye-elections to 2 Lok Sabha seats of Alwar and Ajmer and one Vidhan Sabha seat of Mandalgarh the Congress snatched all three seats of Bhartiya Janata Party, which it had won in the last general elections.
The defeats in all these seats are with big margin. In Alwar the Bhartiya Janata Party fielded its Labour Minister in the Vasundhara Raje Ministry Dr.Jaswant Singh Yadav and he was trounced by the Congress candidate Dr.Karan Singh Yadav by a big margin of nearly 2 lakh votes and at Ajmer the Congress nominee Mr.Raghu Sharma defeated BJP candidate Mr.Ram Swaroop by 84,000 votes. At Mandalgarh Vidhan Sabha seat the Congress nominee Mr.Vivek Dhakad defeated Shakti Singh of the BJP by a margin of 13000 votes.
In Alwar and Ajmer Lok Sabha seats there are 16 Vidhan Sabha seats and presently out of it 14 are held by the BJP. Then too ruling BJP is defeated so badly. This shows the winds have started blowing towards the Congress. Mr.Rahul Gandhi has given a symbol of youth face.
In Madhya Pradesh 2 bye-elections to the State Assembly from Mungawli and Kolaras are being held. In the context of Rajasthan these two election results will be of great significance. The trends are disturbing for the Bhartiya Janata Party. By the end of this year of 2018 the general elections to the Vidhan Sabhas Madhya Pradesh,Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka will be held.
The Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are held by the BJP and Karnataka is ruled by Congress. Both the parties will be testing ground to show public support of them.
Now people take declaration of Prime Minister Modi not seriously but just sentence (Jumla). During the last Lok Sabha elections Mr.Modi made the black money in foreign banks has main plank of the campaign. But after the election and on coming to power he could do nothing in this regard. But he was pastered on it constantly and his party President Mr.Amit Shah dismissed his plank as nothing but just sentence.
Somehow this word “Jumla” got affixed on Mr.Modi and in this awkward position he is just maintaining total silence. The Congress used this ‘Jumla’ to full extend in the Gujarat elections and it paid rich dividend in Gujarat poll results, where Congress was able to trim the BJP strength.
The elections to four assemblies will be followed by Lok Sabha general elections in the early 2019. In the elections the Bhartiya Janata party and the Congress are to formidable rival others do not count much more except in few seats in single digit.
