Duo arrested for raping, selling woman

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal Police have arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in raping a woman on the pretext of marrying her and then sold her for Rs 10,000. Govindpura police have launched investigations after receiving case diary from Habibganj police. According to the Govindpura police, the 19-year-old woman hails from Akola. Eight months back she was married with a man in Bagh Mugalia. However she had a dispute with her husband. After this her mother also came to Bhopal from Akola. On January 25 the victim and her mother were at Habibganj railway station for returning to Akola. But they did not get any train. On January 26 they met one Jitu Vishwakarma. The woman and her mother narrated their tale to Jitu who said he would marry the woman. The woman agreed for the marriage. But when Jitu reached his elder brother’s place along with the woman and her mother he refused. The woman and her mother then returned to Akola. However, on February 1, Jitu phoned the woman and said his brother had agreed to the marriage. The woman then came to Bhopal. Jitu took her to a jhuggi where he raped her. After captivating her for two days and sexually assaulting her on February 3, Jitu Vishawakarma took her to his friend Rakesh Ahirwar and left the place after leaving her. Rakesh told the victim to accompany her as Jitu had sold her for Rs 10,000 but the victim managed to escape and reached GRP Habibganj where she reported the incident. GRP Habibganj registered an FIR and the case was transferred to Govindpura police station and based on the complaint by the victim police have started investigation. The police have registered a case under section 376 and 370 of the IPC and have started further investigation. The two accused work as labourers.

Hemant Katare blackmailing case: Girl gets bail

The journalism student, who had been arrested for allegedly blackmailing Congress MLA Hemant Katare, has been granted bail by the court and is all set to be released from jail. The bail has been granted by the Fifth Additional Sessions Judge. The statement of the girl was also recorded. Meanwhile another so-called video of the Hemant Katare has become viral on the social media in which Katare is heard talking with BJP leader Vikramjit Singh while sitting inside a car. IG (Intelligence) Makrand Deuskar said the ATS would probe the photos, video clips and audios that have gone viral. Their authenticity would be checked. It is believed the MLA could face action. Police officials said investigations are on.
