Eid celebrated with gaiety and fervour; Naqvi, Shahnawaz host Eid celebrations


New Delhi, The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan, was celebrated with gaiety and fervour in Delhi with Muslims offering Namaz and organising celebrations . People offered Namaz in large numbers at Delhi's Jama Masjid on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday offered namaz at Dargah Panja Sharif here on the occasion of Eid. Mr Naqvi offered namaz along with others at Dargah Panja Sharif at Kashmiri Gate on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr . Former vice-president Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and BJP's Shahnawaz Hussain offered prayers at a mosque on Parliament Street Speaking on the occasion, former vice-president Mohammad Hamid Ansari said, "the occasion of Eid is to celebrate happiness."  , "Eid is a festival of happiness. I wish peace and happiness returns to Kashmir," Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said. Celebrations on the occasion of Eid-ul Fitr were held at the residence of Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar attended Eid celebrations at Union Minister Mr Naqvi's residence while senior BJP leader L K Advani, his daughter Pratibha Advani, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar were among those who attended Eid celebrations at BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain's residence in Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rajnath Singh said,'I extend my wishes to everyone on the occasion of Eid.'
