The farmers are facing severe hardships at the Government procurement centre almost all over the state. Long lines of grain laden trucks and trollies are standing on the sides of the road upto 2 to 3 kilometer waiting or their turn to get their stocks taken in the centre for the weighments. In the scorching heat such a long wait is atrocious.
The Food Secretary Neelam Shami has drawn the attention of Principal Secretary of Agriculture towards difficulties of the farmers. There is shortage of money in the online budget. Farmers are not getting payment in ‘Bhavantar Yojna’ in time.
The famers are highly worried about the summer rains, if it occurs it will spoil their entire stock in few minutes rainfall.
Government should immediate increase the number of staff at the procurements centres and the stocks be cleared as early as possible.
