New Delhi, Former IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi formally joined the BJP during a programme at the residence of party National president Amit Shah here on Tuesday.
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, president of the Odisha BJP unit Basanta Panda and senior BJP leader and Odisha in-charge Arun Singh were present on the occasion.
The Centre had approved her application for voluntary retirement from service recently after the Odisha government gave its nod.
'Smt @AprajitaSarangi,Ex IAS from #Odisha cadre joined @BJP4India today in the presence of National President Shri @AmitShah. I welcome her to the BJP family. Her experience in administration esp. in improving school & mass education in Odisha will greatly strengthen,' Mr Pradhan said in a tweet.
During her service tenure, the 1994-batch Odisha cadre IAS officer, Ms Sarangi had worked as the director, Panchayati Raj; secretary, School and Mass Education; secretary, Higher Education; commissioner, Consolidation and secretary, Textiles and Handloom.
