Gargi outrage case: Approach Delhi HC for relief, rules Apex Court

13-02-2020

New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to hear a petition, filed by a lawyer, seeking a detailed impartial CBI probe into the alleged molestation of Gargi college students during a cultural festival last week. "We don't want to interfere on your petition," ruled the bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde, as it asked lawyer-cum-petitioner, Manohar Lal Sharma, to approach the Delhi High Court for relief.

Mr Sharma, who mentioned the matter seeking a direction for an urgent hearing into his petition, said this court should direct the Central Bureau of Investigation for a detailed inquiry into the alleged molestation. It asked Mr Sharma to approach the High Court for relief. Mr Sharma had moved Apex Court seeking a detailed impartial CBI probe into the alleged molestation of Gargi college students during a cultural festival last week.
