GoI tells SC that it has begun process to ensure gallows for rapists of children


New Delhi, GoI submitted to the Supreme Court on Friday that it has commenced the process to amend the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act to ensure capital punishment for rape of kids in the age group of 1-12 years. Alok Srivastava, the petitioner in the case, sought death penalty for offenders involved in the rape and brutal murder of children in their tender years. The bench of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud set April 27 for the next hearing. The Central Government submitted its report, through a letter, while responding to a Public Interest Litigation filed by Mr Srivastava.
