Bhopal: Nearly two lakh employees – including clerks and class IV employees – continued their strike for the second consecutive day today paralysing government work in Madhya Pradesh.
The strike was called jointly by six employee organisations.
These include the Mantralaya Karmachari Sangh, the Lipik Vargiya Karmachari Sangh, the Tritiya Varg Karmachari Sangh, the Laghu Vetan Karmachari Sangh, the Rajasv Karmachari Sangh and the Nagar Palika Karmachari Sangh.
“We had staged a protest in the support of our demands earlier but called it off following assurances from the regime.
Our demands have still not been met. Thus, we have availed mass casual leave for two days. A bigger protest would be organised if our demands are not met,” Mantralaya Karmachari Sangh Chairman Sudhir Nayak, who is the convener of the agitation, told agencies.Their demands include better pay scale and the implementation of the Ramesh Chandra Committee’s 23 recommendations.
