Hemophilia sensitization workshop held


Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal Hemophilia federation India and Hemophilia society, Bhopal in Association with Department of Pathology, Gandhi Medical College Bhopal is organized a one day Hemophilia sensitization workshop on 14 January 2018 at Hotel R K Regency in the city for doctors from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh of various related streams of medical science such as Pathology, Pediatrics, General medicine and orthopedics. The workshop aimed at improving Hemophilia care facilities in both the states and providing all the required information for the betterment of resources and skills needed to combat the life threatening disease. About more than 50 faculties from all the medical colleges of MP and CGparticipated in the workshop which was comprised of various informative sessions on different aspects of the disease by renowned medical specialists from across the nation. The workshop commenced with the presentation on the journey of Hemophilia society in Madhya Pradesh by Professor Dr. R K Nigam of Department of Pathology, GMC Bhopal in which he delineated various milestones achieved by the society in the last years and told about how the society despite facing of all the financial and other obstacles, stood stand helping the patients after Dr. Nigam’s presentation Dr. Shashi Apte spotted the significant details regarding the diagnosis of haemophilia followed by the inaugural ceremony in the auspicious presence of Chief guest Dr. M.C. Songara, Dean, Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, accompanied by Dr. K K Dubey Director Gas Rahat, Dr. V K Bharadwaj, Founder Hemophilia society Bhopal, Dr. Deepak Maravi Medical Superintendent Hamidiya Hospital and Dr. Reeni Malik Professor and Head Department of Pathology, Gandhi Medical College. The workshop begun with an elucidated session on Management of Joint/muscle/nervous system bleeding by Dr. Chandrakalafrom Mumbai and other lucrative sessions by renowned hematologist Dr Pravas ChandraMishra who is a consultant Hematologist, Max Hospital, New Delhi. Other subsequent sessions on Management of chronic musculoskeletal problems by Dr Arun Paul, Prophylaxis of Hemophilia by Dr Chandrakala and products for treatment by Dr Shashikant Apte gave other important details of the disease. The workshop concluded with a session on Surgery in hemophilia by Dr. Shashikant Apte Vice president Medical Hemophilia federation India followed by question answer session.
