HRD introduces Atal rankings to promote innovation in higher education institutions


New Delhi, After making its efforts to promote research in higher education institutions, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has decided to boost innovation culture among these education centres across the country. The Ministry in this direction has introduced Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) to ensure that innovation will bring a new change in the society. HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday while inaugurating a permanent Innovation Cell of the education ministry here at AICTE said, “India lacks in innovation. It is challenge for us to innovate, innovation will make our country prosper. New thinking must be encouraged. Every college must have innovation cell.” He further said that ARIIA ranking will certainly inspire Indian institutions to reorient their mind-set and build ecosystems to encourage high quality research, innovation and entrepreneurship. More than quantity, ARIIA will focus on quality of innovations and will try to measure the real impact created by these innovations nationally and internationally.
