India to help Uganda to tap 'natural resources', address trade deficits: PM Modi


Kampala, Uganda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said India is ready to work with Uganda in the fields of capacity building, Human Resource Development and maintained that New Delhi is also keen to add value to the "abundant natural resources" available in Uganda. Addressing the Uganda-India Business Forum in the presence of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Mr Modi said his government is also willing to take steps to address the trade deficit between two countries. "We have to fully exploit the favourable conditions for doing business between India and Uganda," he said. Speaking on the occasion, Ugandan President Museveni exhorted the business community from both countries to tap the opportunities available for enhancing trade and investment. Earlier in a tweet, MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar said, "Nurturing the bonds of economy and commerce. PM Narenda Modi and President Museveni all set to address the business community at the India Uganda Business Forum in Kampala". "Uganda offers opportunities in several sectors for Indian businesses," Mr Kumar wrote.
