During the ongoing visit of President of France Mr.Emmanuel Macron to India signed 14 agreements of strategic importance on Defence cooperation both the nation can use each other military bases. Sometime ago India and America also signed same type of agreement to use each other military bases, joint defence exercise and exchange of military weapon armaments and related material.
The France is already collaborating with India under the Make in India policy and building nuclear submarines at Mazgaon Dock of Indian Navy at the Western Naval Command at Mumbai. Two such nuclear submarines have been inducted into the Indian Navy fleet.
The Indo-French Defence Pacts came amides Chinese expansionist design to lord over Pacific Ocean trade sea routes and to make its presence felt in Indian Ocean. On the accord in the maritime security and keeping the International Waters free Mr.Macron said both the countries will have unprecedented level of cooperation to such peace and stability in the Indian and Pacific Ocean.
Both Indian Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and French President Mr.Macron decided to create an annual defence dialogue at the ministerial level to explore ways to further deepen defence and strategic ties.
Till now Indian Air Force used the fighter planes purchased from Britain, America and Russia. Now India is buying Rafale fighter planes from France. In the procurement 35 Rafale planes are supplied and there are move to buy 36 more from there. India has opened its private sector and Ambanis are associated in the making of Rafale planes in India.
To meet its power requirement the UPA Congress Prime Minister Mr.Manmohan Singh ushered the phase of setting up more nuclear civil power plants in India. There are about 19 nuclear plants operating India. Mr.Singh entered nuclear power agreement with USA and Russia and for Uranium fuel deal with another counties of Canada, Bostwana, Australia etc.
Now the France is ahead of all in this respect, one of the agreement is about the setting of nuclear power plant and Jaitapur and it will be of 19,700 megawatt which will the biggest nuclear power plant of the world.
In the 14 agreements there are deals of 10.4 lakh crores of rupees. The France will make additional investment of 1600 lakh crores in India. The India is increasing the solar power projects very rapidly and it is ahead of 3 years in the project time target.
In the year 2015 Mr.Modi during his visit to France alongwith French President Allande set up International Solar Alliance and Mr.Allande laid the foundation stone of the headquarters of the Alliance at Gurugram-Gurgaon during his visit to India.
India and France have agreed to increase trade to 15 billion Euro by 2022 and re-launching of India-EU free trade agreements. The bilateral trade has gone up to 11 billion dollars in 2016-17 effort are on to eliminate tariff on goods.
