Indo-US 2+2 Dialogue gets underway on positive note


New Delhi, The first ever India-United 2 Plus 2 Dialogue got underway here on Thursday on a positive note with the visiting side saying they were 'excited' about it while the host India maintained that the parleys related to a forward looking vision. "First-ever India-United States 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue begins! Reflection of our shared commitment to provide a positive, forward-looking vision to our strategic partnership and our growing convergence on important issues," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted. In another missive he wrote: "Promoting synergy in our diplomatic and security efforts". External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, US Secretary of State Pompeo, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and US Secretary of Defence James Mattis posed for a group photograph before the inaugural 2 + 2 Dialogue. Earlier, the US said that the visiting delegation is excited about the Dialogue and maintained that the parleys will deepen the strategeic partnership.
