Industrial Tour organized for BCA and B.Com Computer students

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal An Industrial Tour was organized for BCA and B.Com (Computer) students at Software Technology Parks of India (STPI),Indore (Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Govt. of India). In all 55 students visited STPI along with Faculty Ms. Geetanjli Khambra (In-Charge) and Mr. Ashish Jain. The objective of STPI is development and export of software and software services through STP/ NSTP/EHTP schemes, to provide data communication services including value added services and promote micro, small and medium entrepreneurs by creating conducive environment for entrepreneurship in the field of IT/ITES. A live setup at Network Operating Centre (NOC-Indore) was demonstrated to the students, which gave them an insight about the data centre and services managed by STPI. Mr. Rajesh Behl, Technical Officer explained the live network set up of STPI and clears the doubts of the students during industrial visit. The Department of Computer Applications organized a social outreach program at Govt. Girls School, Veerpur. The faculties along with student volunteers of BCA visited the girls school and its nearby hostel where they reside. The faculties demonstrated the basics of computer and the necessity of internet service in today’s world. The motive was to spread awareness about Digital India and its initiatives, but to the disappointment, there were no network coverage of any telecom service. As the department team was equipped with laptops and power chargers, the purpose was resolved. Mr. Ashish Jain, faculty, taught Vedic Maths to the students and they were able to do calculations easier than before. The hostel warden and school in-charge members were very glad to see the performance of the girls doing well both in math calculations as well as responding to questions based on computers and internet. Ms. Swati Sharma arranged the outreach program and it became a fruitful event, concluding with National Anthem. The faculties distributed pencil pouch, notebooks, storybooks and other stationery items to each student and conducted few games as well. The BCA student volunteers also interacted with the girls by demonstrating the usage of computer and internet and conducted games. The programs were supported by Dr. Fr. John PJ, Principal, BSSS and Mr. Zeeshan Ahmed Siddiqui, HOD, Department of Computer Applications, BSSS. The successful outcome of the events was highly appreciated by the principal.
