Japan Govt gives Rs 6668.46 cr loan for developing projects


New Delhi, The Japan Government would give a loan of Rs 6668.46 crore to the Centre to develop the phase two of the Chennai metro project, a dairy development project and a programme for Japan-India cooperative actions towards Sustainable Development Goals in India. The notes were exchanged between Department of Economic Affairs Additional Secretary Dr C S Mohapatra and Ambassador of Japan to India Kenji Hiramatsu. The Japanese government would give 75.519 billion Yen for the Chennai Metro Project (Phase 2); 15.000 billion Yen for programme for Japan-India Cooperative Actions towards Sustainable Development Goals in India and 14.978 billion Yen for project for Dairy Development. After the exchange, the loan agreements for Chennai Metro Project and Dairy Development programme were signed between Dr Mohapatra and JICA Chief Representative Katsuo Matsumoto. India and Japan have had a long and fruitful history of bilateral development cooperation since 1958. In the last few years, the economic cooperation between India and Japan has steadily progressed. This further consolidates and strengthens the strategic and global partnership between the two countries.
