Karate’s medal-winning players meet Sports Minister


Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal Madhya Pradesh State Karate Academy’s players won two gold and two silver medals to make the state proud in Junior Cadet and Under-21 National Karate Championship, held in Delhi a few days ago. Ankit Sharma won a gold medal in the individual Kumite event of junior boys 75 kg category. Likewise, Gargi Parihar, Saloni Patidar and Vandana Yadav won gold in girls’ team Kata event. Vishal Vishnoi and Gargi Singh Parihar each won a silver medal in the under-21 individual Kumite event (84 kg) and cadet individual Kumite event (47 kg) respectively. In the individual Kumite event, Isha Malviya (54 kg weight category), Rishabh Tomar (52 kg weight category) and Ashwin Kumar Singha (70 kg weight category) each won 1 bronze medal, while Kiran Malwi too won a bronze medal in under-21 individual Kumite event of 55 kg category. Last day, Medal winners met with the Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Hon. Yashodhara Raje Scindia and introduced her with their accomplishments. Appreciating their excellent performance, the Sports Minister congratulated the players. Director of Sports and Youth Welfare, Mr Upendra Jain and Chief Coach of Karate Academy, Mr Jaidev Sharma was also present on the occasion. Expressing happiness, Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare of the State, Hon. Yashodhara Raje Scindia congratulated Shashank and Anshu. She gave her best wishes to them to perform at their best in Tunisia.
