The hectic election campaigning in the bye-elections in the Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Kolaras and Mulgawli have come to an end in the evening of February 22. The voting will take place on February 24 and result will be declared on 28 February.
The Chief Minister Mr.Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the Bhartiya Janata Party and Mr.Jyotiraditya Scindia for Congress spearheaded the campaigns. These two bye-elections are treated as rehearsal for the oncoming general elections to the State Vidhan Sabha by the end of this year.
During the elections the speeches of Minister for Sports and Youth Mrs.Yashodhara Scindia appeared to have crossed the limit and Congress brought it in the notice of the Chief Electoral Officer of the Madhya Pradesh Mr.Salina Singh and the Chief Election Commissioner of India Mr.OP Rawat. Taking cognigence of it the Commission has served the notice on Mrs.Yashodhara Scindia.
There were serious lapses in the voter lists and Congress has took up the matter. Many names were mentioned in many places, under aged persons and those who have died are included in the voter list.
The Collector of Ashok Nagar has been shifted from the district. The Chief Electoral Officer of the West Bengal has been deputed in Madhya Pradesh to observes the election in these seats.
