Guwahati, Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar will be reaching Shillong by evening today following CBI direction to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the pine city. Mr Kumar, accompanied by three other IPS officers and his brother, will fly to Shillong from Kolkata, sources confirmed. A CBI team will also reach today at Shillong around evening and will travel to Shillong.  Mr Kumar will be lodged in one of the guest house of Meghalaya Police.In a dramatic development to the West Bengal imbroglio, Mr Kumar was directed to appear before the CBI in Shillong, on Saturday, by the Supreme Court. The police commissioner of Kolkata, was directed by the Supreme Court, to appear before the CBI in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya as a neutral place. The development is seen as an urgent and positive step towards diffusing the mounting tension of the high-voltage drama going on in West Bengal. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was on sit-in protest since the fiasco began on Sunday has termed the Supreme Court decision as a ‘moral victory’. On the other hand, the Central Government has also claimed it a ‘moral victory’ after the court ordered Kumar to appear on February 20 before the investigating agency in Shillong, submit all evidence and cooperate with the probe into chit fund scams in Bengal.
