Modi accuses Opposition for negative comments on farm loan, Vande Bharat express train


Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, while launching his election campaigning in his Parliamentary constituency Varanasi, hit out at the Opposition for circulation ‘wrong’ statements over the waiver of farm loans and the first semi high speed train Vande Bharat and asked the audience to give a befitting reply in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. “In 2014 you gave a strong government due to which the country progressed and people were benefiting by getting several schemes to uplift their social and economic status. Similarly, in the coming 2019 elections, you have to do the same so that the development spree continues,” the Prime Minister said. Mr Modi inaugurated and laid the foundations for 47 projects worth over Rs 3,352 crores here on Tuesday. “The development of the country is taking place on two tracks. One track is the infrastructure such as railway, airway, internet and the second is the attempt to make the lives of farmers, middle class and others easy,” Mr Modi told the large gathering. Asking the people to reveal the fake claim of the Opposition about their farm waiver scheme, he said, “while in every 10 years time, the BJP government will announce a farm waiver scheme to the tune of just Rs 50,000 scheme while deposit Rs 7.5 lakh crore in the bank account of the farmers in these 10 years.” The PM also hit out at the Opposition for making ‘adverse’ comments on the country’s first semi-high speed train Vande Bharat express. “It is unfortunate that Opposition is targeting Vande Bharat Express. It’s a humiliation of every technician who worked on this project. Now you all will have to give a reply to these people at the appropriate time,” he asked the gathering. He further said that many steps have been taken to transform the railway in the last four and half years. “Semi-high speed train, Vande Bharat that was made in India is an example of it. It is sad how this train is being targeted and made fun of by some people,” he said. During his around five hours stay in the city, Mr Modi inaugurated two cancer centres in Kashi, Madan Mohan Malviya Cancer Centre in Banaras Hindu University (BHU) while another at Lahartar. While inaugurating the projects, several of them of the railways, the Prime Minister said, “government came and talked about development. But your aspirations were never fulfilled. Now development has started.”
