Modi govt has failed to fulfill promises made during 2014 LS polls: Cong


New Delhi, On the eve of the completion of four years of the NDA Government at the Centre, the Congress has charged the BJP led regime of failing to fulfill promises made by it to people of the country during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. In a series of tweets on its official social media handle, the Congress said,'there is not even one scheme where the Modi Government has come close to fulfilling it's promises. ' Citing in this regard the example of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Congress said that as against the target of building 95.4 lakh houses in the rural areas under the scheme, only 30 per cent had been completed. In the urban areas, the Congress said that only eight per cent of target of 40.6 lakh houses under the PM AY have been built. Speaking about the 'Namami Gange' scheme of the Modi Government, the Congress said,'the much hyped Clean Ganga campaign is nothing but lip service. After four years, Modi Government has nothing to show as achievements. Of the total allocation to the scheme, Rs 2615 cr is still unutilised. Also, only 71 out of 154 detailed project reports have been approved. Further. there is 44 per cent to 65 per cent shortage of manpower.' Talking about the Smart cities mission, the Congress said,'like all Modi Government initiatives, the Smart Cities Mission makes for good marketing, with almost nothing to show for on the ground.' Charging the Modi Government of failing to fulfil the promise of generating 2 crore jobs per year, the Congress said, 'with 85 per cent of trained people unable to find jobs, Modi Government's mismanagement of the Skill development program can now be seen by all. The Modi Government is completing four years at the Centre on Saturday.
