New Delhi, Congress on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears frightened by the prospect of his certain defeat in the Lok Sabha elections and is trying to exploit emotions of the voters by saying that his life is in danger.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Congress leader Anand Sharma claimed that Mr Modi is the first Prime Minister of the country who is saying that there is danger to his life.
'At the time of elections, Mr Modi is trying to get the sympathy of the voters by saying that his life is under threat,' he said.
Former Prime Ministers--Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Dr Manmohan Singh never said that their life was in danger, the Congress leader said. He added that it was the third time when the Prime Minister proclaimed that his life was under threat.
Earlier, during Bihar elections and at the time of demonetisation, Prime Minister Modi had said that his life was under threat, he added.
