More video and audio clips surface in Katare matter

Agencies, Bhopal More audio and video clips are surfacing on social media in the alleged blackmail case of Congress legislator Hemant Katare – who is presently on the run in a rape case. In the latest video that has emerged, a third person is accompanying Katare and Vikramjeet – who is absconding in the blackmail case. In the video, they are trying to strike out a deal in the matter by exchanging video and documents for money.Likewise, money-related dealing is the subject of discussion in audio clips. Earlier, a video had gone viral on Sunday wherein the Congress legislator could be heard describing himself as innocent and levelling allegations against the woman – who has lodged a rape complaint against him – and her mother. Recently, a woman was arrested – on the basis of Katare’s blackmail complaint – while accepting Rs 5 lakh and sent to jail. She later managed to secure bail. Her accomplice Vikramjeet is absconding. While in judicial custody, the woman had sent a written rape complaint to the Mahila Police Station following which the Congress legislator was booked. The woman’s mother had lodged a complaint against him for abduction and threatening. Several video and audio clips in connection with the matter had gone viral. A special investigation team (SIT) – formed to investigate the matter – has been searching for the Congress legislator and conducted raids at his premises in Bhopal and Bhind. A reward of Rs 10,000 each has been announced on the arrest of Katare and Vikramjeet. Katare has also moved the High Court seeking quashing of first information reports (FIRs) lodged against him. Superintendent of Police (South Bhopal) RK Lodha said that he has neither watched nor listened to video and audio clips. He said that investigation was underway and police are hot on the trail of both absconders.
