In the 8th Junior National Hockey Championship being held in Bhopal, Hockey Haryana defeated Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy in a thrilling A-Division girls’ category quarterfinal by 1-0. Players of both the teams poured their blood, sweat and tears to earn the victory for their respective team.
Haryana’s Amrinder Kaur scored a field goal in the 12th minute and made her team ahead. Then, Haryana didn’t give any chance to the academy and maintained the score of 1-0 till the end to secure its place in the semi-finals.
The quarter-final match between Hockey Mizoram and Uttar Pradesh Hockey was equally thrilling. Hockey Uttar Pradesh defeated Hockey Mizoram by 1-0. Uttar Pradesh Hockey team player Sonal Tiwari won the first and the victorious field goal in the 28th minute.
Hockey Odisha and Hockey Gangapur Odisha had a tie with 2-2 points.
The match was decided from the shoot-out, in which Gangapur Odisha player Rogita Kujur, Jihani Pradhan and Captain Jivan Kishori Toppo scored 1-1 Goal gave the team a 3-1 win. While skipper Ajmina Kujur scored just one goal from skyscraper Odisha.
In another match Hockey Jharkhand defeated Sports Authority of India (SAI) by 9-0 and reached the semi-finals.
Similarly, in the quarter-finals of the ‘A’ Division Boys’ Group, Hockey Haryana defeated Hockey Chandigarh 4-0 in the one-sided match and Hockey Punjab defeated Sports Authority of India (SAI) by 3-2 points.The match between Hockey Odisha and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy was tied at 1-1.
The match was decided through a shootout in which Hockey Odisha defeated Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 3-1 and made it to semi-final.
Similarly, the quarterfinal match between Uttar Pradesh and Gangpur Odisha was tied 2-2 and the match was decided from the shoot-out, in which Gangapur Odisha defeated Uttar Pradesh 4-2 points.
