NAFED Purchase


The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr Shivaraj Singh Chouhan by his efforts secured minimum support price to the farmers for their channa, masoor and mustard crops. The Union Agriculture Minister Mr Ratha Mohan Singh on his visit to Bhopal ordered NAFED to make purchases in Madhya Pradesh from April 10 on minimum support price. He also abolished the sale limit of 25 quintals per day. The Chief Minister told the Union Minister that special efforts were undertaken in the State has resulted in bumper crops of pulses. Their moment of joy however become a source of problem also. The bumper harvesting has caused sharp decline in prices and their produce become uneconomic. The private traders in the mandies are not giving equal to support price. Under such situation the state introduced 'Bhavantar Scheme'. The NAFED purchase will go on till end of May. Mr Chauhan suggested that credit limit of NAFED be increased from Rs. 19,000 crores. The Central Government should also appoint surveyors at all the 257 murder in the state. Farmers are to be paid 90 per cent of the price of procurement immediately.
