NCRI & CBC should play an important role in helping nation to face cyber threats : Kishan Reddy


Hyderabad, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy on Monday said National Cyber Research, Innovation & Capacity Building Centre (NCRI & CBC) is the need of the hour and it should play an important role in helping the country to face cyber threats. Speaking after inaugurating NCRI (CBC) at Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI), Ramanthapur, a unit of Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), Union Ministry of Home Affairs, he said the World in general and India in particular was witnesses of raising cyber crimes during the last one decade. It become a global challenge.

Our dependence on technology and government intention of digitization has created a demand on cyber space. At the same time cyber threats also posing major challenge, Mr Reddy maintained. “ Technology makes our life comfortable and at the same time it also makes our life miserable because of cyber threats”, the Minister said said such Centre was very useful to take on cyber crimes and make better the lives of the people.

He said the NCRI & CBC was launched in Hyderabad because it is a strategic location of the country. Several prominent Central institutions including the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), the Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB), Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) were situated here. It was also a preferred destination for several world class IT companies including Microsoft Adobe, Apple, he added. On the occasion, the officials elaborated the details of the Centre to the Minister through power point presentation. Earlier, Mr Reddy also inspected NCRI & CBC along with the officials.
