New Delhi, The Supreme Court will on Friday hear the Centre's appeal, seeking separate execution of the convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case. Additional Solicitor General M Nataraj, appearing for the Centre, mentioned the matter for urgent hearing before a bench headed by Justice N V Ramana on Thursday. The bench, also comprised Sanjiv Khanna and Krishna Murari, agreed to hear Centre's plea tomorrow.
Mr Natraj told the court that jail authorities are unable to execute the convicts despite the fact that their review petitions have been dismissed and curative petitions and mercy pleas of three of them rejected. On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court said all four convicts in the case have to be executed together and gave them one week to exercise their legal remedies, after which the Central government moved the Supreme Court.
