Oppn slams MP Govt for according MoS status to five religious leaders

Agencies, Bhopal Taking a dig at the Madhya Pradesh Government for according minister of state (MoS) status to five Hindu religious leaders, State Congress Chief Spokesperson KK Mishra today said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to score political points as it has failed on all fronts. Yesterday, the state dispensation constituted a special committee to look into tree plantation along the banks of the Narmada River and water conservation issues. The committee comprises five Hindu saints – Computer Baba, Bhaiyyuji Maharaj, Narmadanandji, Hariharanandji and Pt Yogendra Mahant – who have been accorded MoS status. “Computer Baba had warned to expose massive corruption during the regime’s ‘Narmada Seva Yatra’ and had announced to take out the ‘Narmada Ghotala Rath Yatra’. Thereafter, the government has provided inducements to Computer Baba and four other religious leaders,” said Mr Mishra. Meanwhile, in a statement issued here, state BJP spokesman Rajneesh Agrawal said that the Congress should maintain a positive outlook in the matter instead of objecting to it, as religious leaders inspire people and could be instrumental in water conservation and tree plantation efforts.
