Pak to release Indian Pilot on Friday, says Imran Khan


Islamabad, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Thursday announced that the Indian fighter pilot, in the custody of Pakistan army, would be freed on Friday as a “peace gesture.” Making this announcement during a joint session of Pakistan Parliament which was specially convened to discuss Indo-Pak situation, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that his country has offered to release the Indian pilot as a “peace gesture.’’ Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was taken into custody on Wednesday by Pakistani Army after his MiG-21 Bison fighter aircraft crashed inside Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK) territory after an aerial confrontation with a Pak F-16 jet. His video in custody was also released by Pak authorities yesterday. India said yesterday that in driving intruding Pak jets out, IAF lost a MiG 21 Bison fighter and a pilot was 'missing in action.'
