PM comment on Rajiv Gandhi tactic to divert attention from his failure on all fronts: Cong


New Delhi, Strongly condemning the remarks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, the Congress on Monday said it was an attempt to divert attention of the people from the NDA Government's failure on all fronts. Addressing a joint press coference along with party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu and AICC spokesperson jaiveer Shergill, senior party leader Sam Pitroda said,'the government has failed on every aspect and in a bid to divert attention they are talking rubbish.' The Congress leaders said that Modi government has ruined the government companies and has just favoured private companies. 'Also, he has forgotten to even respect the sacrifice of life made by former prime minister,'they said. Mr Pitroda said, 'the comment made by Mr Modi against the former prime minister is unimaginable. Mr Modi has lost his 'patience' after sensing that he may lose seats in the already held four-phases of Lok Sabha polls.He said the Modi government had promised to give employment to two crore people but the result was zero. 'Similarly, despite the talk of 100 smart cities, the result is zero. They promised to increase the income of the farmers but it has actually decreased. Hundreds of government companies, including BSNL, MTNL and Air India, have reached the brink of bankruptcy. The budget of education has been reduced. After failing on every front, Mr Modi is now making rubbish comments,'Pitroda said.. The Prime Minister had on Saturday while addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh said that the life of his(Congress President Rahul Gandhi) father, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, ended as "corrupt number 1".
