Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday left for Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur where he will release a commemorative postage stamp on Maharaja Suheldeo and address a public rally at ITI ground. Mr Modi, who reached his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, this noon, was welcomed by Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and UP BJP president Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey along with other BJP politicians and officials at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport at Babatpur. After staying for a while at the airport, the Prime Minister, along with the UP governor, Chief Minister and others, left for Ghazipur. The PM will lay foundation and inaugurate projects worth over Rs 499 crore, which include a new medical college in Ghazipur, at a cost of Rs 220 crore. Mr Modi’s rally in Ghazipur is being seen as an effort by the BJP to woo the Rajbhar community, which revers Maharaja Suheldo. In Varanasi, he will attend the ‘one district, one product’ regional summit at the Deendayal Hastakala Sankul (Trade Facilitation Centre & Crafts Museum), and participate in programmes involving beneficiaries of several central and state government schemes. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and South Asia Regional Centre (ISARC) on the campus of the National Seed Research and Training Centre (NSRTC) in Varanasi. He will return to New Delhi in the evening.
