President Kovind to inaugurate first Gyan Kumbh in Uttarakhand tomorrow


New Delhi, President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the first Gyan Kumbh during his two-day visit to Uttarakhand, commencing tomorrow. He will also address the first convocation of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh.The three-day Gyan Kumbh will discuss 'Challenges in Higher Education and Improvement in Quality.' About 5,000 people are expected to take part in the Kumbh, jointly organised by the Higher Education Department of the state Government and the University of Patanjali in Haridwar. The Gyan Kumbh will see the participation of Higher Education Ministers from 18 States, Vice-Chancellors of 131 Universities, academicians and students. Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar will be a key-note speaker in one of the five technical sessions that will follow the inaugural.With University of Patanjali as one of the organisers, yoga guru Ramdev and Ayurveda expert Balakrishna will also participate in the event. While President Kovind will inaugurate the Gyan Kumbh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend the concluding session on November 4, Sunday. The first technical session on governmental efforts for quality in higher education will be presided over by state Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and co-chaired by the State Higher Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat and Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya chancellor Pranav Pandya. The technical sessions will include discussions on Higher Education and Indian Knowledge Tradition, Drafting and Implementation of policies in Higher Education, Innovative Research and Improvement in Quality and Challenges in Higher Education and Skill Development.
