President Ram Nath Kovind's two-day J&K visit begins


Jammu, President Ram Nath Kovind, accompanied by First Lady Savita Kovind, on Wednesday arrived on a two-day visit to the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The President visited to the state to address the Sixth Convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) at Katra in Reasi district. Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta, Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, Minister for Revenue Abdul Rehman Veeri, Minister for Cooperatives Chering Dorjay, Minister for PHE Sham Lal Choudhary and Minister for Food Civil Supplies an Consumer Affairs Zulfkar Ali received the President at the Technical Airport here on Wednesday morning. Over 880 scholars will receive their degrees and merit certificates at the ceremony. Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal and Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Munjal Auto Engineering Ltd, Sudhir Munjal will be conferred honorary Doctorate by SMVDU on the occasion. A civic reception will also be held at Amar Mahal Lawns in Jammu city to honour the President on Wednesday evening. He will be also meeting Chief Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and other Judges of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court over breakfast here on Thursday.
