Priyanka Targets U.P.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has set a target that after Lok Sabha elections the target of Congress was return to power in the Uttar Pradesh. Recently the Congress returned to power in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and before it the party returned to power in Punjab ousting Akali-BJP coalition Government. Priyanka appointed as General Secretary of the party at the national level alongwith Mr.Jyotiraditya Scindia and they are assigned the Lok Sabha election charge in Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh. On February 11 the Congress President Mr.Rahul Gandhi along with Priyanka and Scindia staged a massive road show in Lucknow heralding the installation of both the General Secretary on U.P. responsibility. Priyanka from first day started meeting with Congress members from different districts of Uttar Pradesh with 13 hours sitting with them. In the massive rally Mr.Rahul Gandhi targeted the Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi in the deal of Rafale fighter plane and his obliging Anil Ambani in the deal. The 14-kilometer road show attracted the huge crowd and revival of Congress in the state. In the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha the party is on 4th Position after ruling BJP-Samagwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party. In Lok Sabha it has only 2 seats in the Lok Sabha from the U.P. The task and challenge before Congress is a Herculean task to achieve.Mr.Rahul Gandhi started his spree from Gujarat where despite very odds he increased the strength of the Congress in the Vidhan Sabha elections by reducing the strength of the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party and under his leadership party captured and returned to power in three more states. The road show was very impressive and moral boosting of Congress members of the State. Though there is no formal declaration but by this road show it appears that Rahul Gandhi is a face for Prime Ministership and Priyanka is projected as Chief Minister on party winning in the U.P. Vidhan Sabha polls. The Lok Sabha contest in the Uttar Pradesh is going to be very tough for all the parties in the fray. The Congress in the past also lost power in many states. If it succeeds in U.P. it can get back other states like Haryana, Andhra, Odisha etc.
