Provide facilities at Bairagarh rly station, GM urged

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal Sindhi Central Panchayat has submitted a memorandum to the West Central Railway Jabalpur Division General Manager Girish Pillai during the latter’s visit to Bhopal and urged him for the renovation and upgradation of Sant Hirdaram Nagar Railway Station. The GM assured to take immediate action in the matter. Panchayat General Secretary Suresh Jaswani said Panchayat founder Nanak Chandnani, patron Prakash Meerchandani, president ND Khemchandani, vice president Vasdev Vadhwani and others submitted a charter of demands to the railway GM. The memo pointed out that at present many superfast and express trains stop at Bairagarh including jaipur-Chennai, Jabalpur Somnath and Malwa Express. But there is no facility of coach guidance at platform 1 and 2. The passengers run helter-skelter to search their coach when the train arrives. No train stops here for more than two minutes. So on many occasions the passengers miss their train. The memo said there are only two reservation counters at the station. Sometimes three reservation counters function. But at least six reservation counters are needed at the station because the Army’s 3 EME Centre is situated nearby and the army jawans also get their reservations done from here. The memo also said there are only two platforms but there is no arrangement of shed at the platforms according to their length. The condition of both the platforms is also pitiable. The tiles of platform no.2 are giving way. There is no arrangement of drinking water at the station. The toilets are dirty. The GM was also requested to establish new platforms on the land lying vacant and unused on the north side of Bairagarh railway station and new trains for Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Surat started from these platforms. The memo also requested that at least 16 long-distance trains should halt at Bairagarh.
