Rallies and public meetings marked May Day across the city with workers taking out rallies to celebrate the “International Workers Day”. Marches were organised by joint committee of central trade unions in Bhopal and at other districts.
The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), CITU and other trade unions and parties including CPI and CPI (M) also organised May Day programmes. Unity of working classes was more relevant now than ever before to defend their hard-earned rights like job security, eight-hour working time and minimum wages, trade union leaders said during their speeches.
