New Delhi, Aam Admi Party (AAP) MLA from Shahdara, Ram Niwas Goel, was unanimously re-elected as the Speaker of the newly constituted Delhi Assembly on Monday. Mr Goel held the post of Speaker in the sixth Assembly too.
In the Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia moved the motion proposing the name of Mr Goel to be chosen as the Speaker of the House.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Ramvir Singh Bidhuri congratulated Mr Goel after he was elected as the Speaker.
The seventh Delhi legislative assembly comprises of 62 AAP MLAs and eight BJP MLAs. The Congress failed to win a single seat in the recent election.
