Hit with iron rod for resisting; cash, valuables robbed

Unidentified miscreants held a retired ASI captive and committed dacoity in his house during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday at Sai Nagar in Neelbad Colony under Ratibad police station.
The dacoity took place at about 2.30 am. The dacoits looted 15 tola gold and cash. Ratibad TI was suspended for not taking speedy action even after receiving information about the incident.
According to the information, Krishna Pandey, 68, lives with his family in the Sai Nagar, Neelbad area. He has retired from the post of ASI in the police department. He was sleeping in his room, while wife Rupali, son and daughter-in-law were sleeping in the other room.
The miscreants entered inside the house by breaking the grill of the window situated near the main gate. Two of them caught hold of Krishna Pandey, while the others went into the wife’s bedroom. When wife Rupali woke up, the dacoits took the keys of the almirah from her and looted silver and gold ornaments.
The miscreants searched the almirah and took out the cash and valuables. They broke the locks which they could not open. The accused locked the room from outside in which the victim’s son and daughter-in-law were sleeping.
The dacoits took away total 15 tola gold with them including two gold chain, ear tops, payal and other ornaments.
Plaintiff Krishna Pandey said two dacoits had caught hold of him and threatened to kill him when he tried to raise an alarm. Pandey said the dacoits hit him with an iron rod when he opposed. They also held his wife captive.
DIG Dharmendra Chaudhury sought details of the case from Ratibad TI. The DIG suspended the TI for not taking action even after the lapse of over 12 hours. The TI initially expressed his ignorance about the incident and later said it was an ordinary theft.
