Rs 5993 crore worth Micro Lift Irrigation Projects approved by Narmada Control Board


Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan presided over the 61st meeting of Narmada Control Board today. Micro Lift Irrigation Projects worth Rs 5,993 crores were granted approval during the meeting. The approved irrigation projects include Narmada-Parvati Link Project of Rs 3,019 crore and Narmada-Kalisindh Link Project of Rs 2,974 crore. The Chief Minister reviewed the proceedings on the decisions taken in the 60th meeting of the control board. Chief Minister Chouhan was informed that farmers of 187 villages of Sehore district would be benefitted from the first and second phase of Narmada-Parvati Link Project. Total one lakh hectare land will be irrigated under Ashta, Shajapur and Ichhawar tehsil. Similarly, villagers from total 191 villages of three districts including 13 villages of Sehore district, 10 of Shajapur district and 168 villages of Dewas district will be benefitted from the Narmada- Kalisindh Link Project. It was informed during the meeting that the entire water supply in these Micro Lift Projects will be done through pipelines. Water will be made available for farmers at every 2.5 chak and the farmers will be able to irrigate their fields easily with sprinklers as the pressure head will be 20 metres. Energy Minister Paras Chandra Jain, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Narmada Valley Development Lalsingh Arya, Chairperson of Narmada Development Valley Authority Rakesh Sahni, Chief Secretary B.P. Singh, Principal Secretary Narmada Valley Development Rajneesh Vaish and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
