Mumbai, Sliding equity market got a break on Wednesday as the benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) rose by 143 points at 37,546.42 in early trade on fresh buying in FMCG, Energy and Technology stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) too moved up by 53 points to 11,340.10.The sectoral indices that pushed the market were FMCG, Energy and Technology stocks. In scrips, Powergrid, Wipro, Hind Unilever and ITC too boosted the same.
The Sensex registered intra day high and low at 37,638.16 and 37,370.14 respectively.
The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 11,340.10 and 11,264.25 respectively.
The gainers were Powergrid by 1.95 pc to Rs 190.50, Wipro by 1.93 pc to Rs 329.60, Hind Unilever by 1.92 pc to Rs 1622 and ITC by 1.51 pc to Rs 301.75.
The losers were Tata Motors by 2.36 pc to Rs 260.90, Axis Bank by 2.34 pc to Rs 635.25, ICICI Bank by 1.61 pc to Rs 321.35 and M&M by 1.59 pc to Rs 925.45.
