Mumbai, The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Friday appreciated 154 points to open at 37,222.26 on fresh buying in material, FMCG, finance, healthcare and utilities stocks. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 39 points to 10,987.80.
The sectoral indices like material, FMCG, finance, healthcare and utilities stocks pushed the market up, dealers at stocks market informed. The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 37,318.99 and 37,008.53 points respectively.
The gainers were Tata Steel by 2.61 pc to Rs 344.30, VEDL by 2.58 pc to Rs 139.30, Sun Pharma by 1.06 pc to Rs 439.25 and ITC by 0.85 pc to Rs 243.45. The losers were Tech Mahindra by 2.03 pc to Rs 677.10, M & M by 0.97 pc to Rs 523.10 and Asian Paints by 0.74 pc to Rs 1603.50.
