The Madhya Pradesh Government is setting up 7 new medical colleges at Ratlam, Vidisha, Shahdol, Chhindwara, Shivpuri, Datia and Khandwa and in the existing medical college at Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Rewa and Jabalpur there is shortage in teaching staff by 50 per cent.
In Government hospitals dispensaries and primary health centres there are acute shortage of doctors. Many those who are appointed and posted have deserted the post and not reported on duty, under such condition what will be the condition of new medical colleges one can understand. The Medical Council of India will not approve such medical colleges.
The Government has worked out a plan to issue advertisement on national level for the health services and medical colleges. Virtually there is no rural health services in the state.
With shortage of teaching staff in medical colleges the students cannot have perfect knowledge and will be far below the standard.
