Shriniwas Tiwari


In the death of Mr.Shriniwas Tiwari the state lost veteran leader of the state. At the ripe age of 93 he died in a Delhi hospital after a brief illness. He feel ill in January 16 and rushed to Delhi. Throughout he was in the Intensive Care Unit. His body was brought to Satna by air and placed in Rewa to pay him homage. He was cremated with full state honour at his native village Tivni. The Governor Mr.OP Kohli, Chief Minister Mr.Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Speaker Mr.Shita Saran Sharma Leader of the Opposition in Ajay Singh paid him tributes. He was Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha for 11 long years from 1993 to 2003. Before it he was Health Minister in Chief Minister Arjun Singh cabinet and Deputy Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha. He was born on 17th September in 1926 in his maternal village Shahpur. He was member of the Vidhan Sabha from 1952-57, 1972 to 1985 and 1990 to 2003. He was elected as member of the Vidhan Sabha at the prima age of 24. He was a freedom fighter and started his political career in the Socialist Party and was its State President. He joined Congress in 1973. He was very forceful orator and mass leader in the Vindhya region. He was considered as an expert in the Parliamentary practices and working. He was a great Parliamentarian.
